Tsunami!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well well there I was distracted by the fact that we might get a white Christmas this year when in the early hours of boxing day morning an 8.9 (the strongest quake for 40 years) goes off in north Sumatra

Now since I found out about this at about 9am this morning I have been obsessed by it, watching, like millions of others throughout the world the slick news channels. Its damn exciting watching chaos like this unfold infront of your eyes, I even go and make a cup of tea and get myself a seasonal mince pie to accompany me, as reports spew out like some sadistic death raising event, every so often the reporter informs me of a new death total, 1000,s here 100,s there 10,000 in total and rising.

It seems, that so distant is this disaster made by that screen, that I don't seem to feel bad about it, I just watch avidly as each and every new bit of footage comes in, flipping between CNN and news 24 and skynews for the next info fix the next bit of video and maybe even footage of the actual wave!!!

I even remark to myself how cool it might be to be there!!!!! WHAT!!!!! THE FUCK!!!
have I gone mad....

The TV has anethatised me to the fact that it stinks of sewage, there will be mass panic, disease and death all around. That as I sit there in the comfort of my own home 1000's of bodies are piling into morgues with no way of IDing them cause all there stuff has been washed away!!!!!

I dunno its strange, but it feels like entertainment, and isn't that just a little sick!! I mean is it me or the medium!!! I know I should be horrified and I am, but I'm also fascinated by it. Its like the ultimate disaster movie! Like I'm so used to seeing death and destruction on the screen that the line between entertainment and real life is really blurred.

Maybe its ok to enjoy the news!!!?

Memories

They are a great things, specially when you get the chance to review them again Party follow that link if you wanna see some of mine...

One thing is for sure, memories are a strange thing, i can remember, remembering that party (the one the link points to) but its not how i remember it looking when i look at the video!

i remember it feeling like we were the only people on the planet like ourselves that we were special, and its weird becuase i still think that, and if only we had the commercial know how we might have pioneered trigger happy tv!! (we invented the fake fight and various public humiliation in the shopping mall a mere 5 years earlier!!)

I reckon feeling special is easy,
you just have to realise that your are unique!

22-YEAR-OLD GAMER PAYS US $26,500 FOR VIRTUAL REAL ESTATE IN LARGEST MMORPG PURCHASE EVER

At the End of a Grueling Race to the Finish, Project Entropia Announces Winner of First Virtual Treasure Island Auction

(Los Angeles, CA) – Project Entropia, the fastest growing virtual world utilizing a real cash economy, today announces twenty-two year old Australian, Deathifier from the Dark Knights society, as the savvy winner of this historic auction for virtual real estate. The auction began taking bids in late August and ran through the month of December accepting offers from around the world in a race to claim an extensively rendered virtual treasure island. Bidding ended at an astonishing amount of $26,500 US the largest amount ever spent in the massive multiplayer online gaming space.

“This is a historic moment in gaming history, and this sale only goes to prove that Massive Multiplayer Online Gaming has reached a new plateau where the gamers themselves have discovered the true economic potential of an online community,” raves Marco Behrmann, Mindark Director of Community relations. “This is an incredible milestone.”

“This type of investment will definitely become a trend in online gaming as the standard monthly-fee based online games will struggle to make any sort of cash investment viable,” claims island winner, Deathifier. “It is only the unique, forward-looking games like Project Entropia that establish a real, tangible value to your in-game persona and their activities that allow it.”

This is truely amazing shit!!! check it out at Project Entropia

Where do I draw the lines...

Its interesting but creating this blogg has thrown up a number of personal conflicts, like were do i draw the line what can i put on here what shouldn't I. Do i just post exactly whats on my mind? it would certainly be very liberating but it would piss a lot of people off!! I have no idea really.

Anyway there is change in the air i can feel it, its like the calm before the storm and i feel like a big hand keeps ushering me along, a little like that one out of those old Lottery adverts "move along Luke" its You!!!!! arghh. I've decided I hate change but i've also decided it absolutley necerserry which kinda sux! The problem with change is that unless it gets you closer to where you wanna be or is going to make you happy its pointless. Some people do belive that we as humans run around AVOIDING pain so much that we lose site of creating our own destiny and that if you master your fear of pain and turn it into excitment you can be brave and go after what you want, but maybe there is a comprimise maybe it should be measured change with small steps.

Recently my friend lets call him Grant decided that the life he'd been aiming for for years was a waste of time, this dicision coming just when he was getting a fair degree of success in his chosen direction, he then told me he was moving back home from London to Devon to his old job, to settle down and start a little family.... now thats change!!!

Bloggs and RSS

So then, bloggs and rss its good i like it, I couldn't really see the point of it 12 months ago, but now!!! I think this idea is going to change the face of first the internet and second how we use it.

How the hell did u get to that conclusion i hear you say, well..

The key is the "specialised channel of information" because with TV, Music, Shopping, Mobiles and the Internet merging ever closer I reckon rss feeds are going to be hugely important.

Why? well if you take say the magazine industry were you used to see magazines about "Fishing" it has now been distilled
into targeted publications like "Reel Tips Weekly" or "Fly Fishing Technique Daily" It will be the same with online content you'll be able to pick up rss feeds as deverse as your individual taste allows, and get exactly the information you require.

So imagine a Dave "future web user" or shall we say "information consumer" using his Roaming Multimedia Device, browsing off the 3Gbit WI FI network while rock climbing in the Artic.

While he is doing that the latest series of 24 comes out on DVD, his "24 7" (sic) rss feed tells him he wacks in an order and its waiting for him when he gets home lovely!!

meanwhile he updates his blogg saying he hasnt had beans on toast for what seems like an eternity since he started this climbing expedition, his wife who has an rss feed to his blog now knows exactley what to cook the night he comes back!!!

what it seems to me is a great tool for screening out all information you dont need and only leting in what you do, now lets hope advertisers dont find a way in to rss!!!!!!!!!!!
